Still looking to join RWS? Guess what?
That’s right. The RWS HR team put together another recruitment drive at Suntec Convention Centre on Oct 12 & 13. Psst, this way for a sneak peak at our recruitment drive. The entire foyer of the second floor ballroom was lined with candidates filling in applications for jobs in Retail (Sales Associates), F&B (Waiter/Waitress, Commis Cook, Bartender) and Universal Studios Singapore® (Crew).
Some candidates even received immediate job offers. Welcome to the RWS family!!
If you missed this round, we are still accepting applications. You can write us at careers@rwsentosa.com, surf our job descriptions at www.rwsentosa.com/careers, or visit us at any of our recruitment talks. Our HR folks will be at e2i (141 Redhill Road) at 2pm this Wed (Oct 21), next Wed (Oct 28) and next Thurs (Oct 29).
Not even a typhoon will stop us from opening in early 2010
Enough of that recruitment talk. What happens after a candidate is hired into the RWS family? Training, obviously. We’ve been busy prepping our staff for our early 2010 opening. Not to get you all excited or anything, but our doors will be opening very very soon. (In fact, our first event will happen even before our early 2010 opening! Click here for more details.)
I digress - I really want to share a little insider info about the croupier training in Manila. As some of you might already know, we’ve been sending hundreds of croupiers to our Genting casino in Manila for hands-on training.
However, as many of you probably already know, Manila was also recently hit by one of the biggest tropical storms in its entire history. Needless to say, our croupiers were also affected.
Before our croupiers realized how severe the storm was, they were still happily taking pictures and having a bit of fun with the strong winds/rain.
The aftermath of the storm
This is an account by one of our trainers, Wendy C:
“On the weekend that Tropical Storm Ketsana hit (26 September 2009), the Resorts World croupiers were due to go on a group outing to the Tagaytay Highlands [for the uninitiated, Tagaytay is a volcanic highland resort with cool weather, nice mountainous views, trekking, river activities and horse riding]. Our plans were cancelled after the storm drenched Manila with very heavy rain and strong winds. The storm flooded parts of the city, including the area where our croupiers are staying, and knocked out the water and electricity at their apartments.
"We worked closely with our partners in Manila to deliver drinking water to the croupiers at their apartments and made sure we kept in regular contact with them. We also arranged for their cooks to prepare and deliver meals, both lunch and dinner, to the croupiers for a whole week after the storm.
"Over and above, we also gave the name list of all our trainees to the Singapore Embassy in the Philippines in the event of a worsening of the situation and a need for evacuation."
We are glad that our croupiers are safe and are very satisfied with their progress in the mastery of multiple table games & chip handling. However, we are exceptionally pleased with their contributions to the residents of Manila.
After the disaster, our kind croupiers raised money to help Filipinos who were affected by the storm. They raised a total of 52,690 Pesos and donated to the needy. There was even a youtube video of our trainees rescuing cars from the flood!
Their outstanding behavior in the face of a crisis makes us very proud to have them as part of the RWS family.
